is well know for its oil industry and the Angel Falls but
what we are about to see in this documentary will show us
why Venezuela is much more than that. We will go to the best
wild places in the Country and will experience many
different activities alongside it, starting at the

“the tree of all the fruits” of the Piaroa mythology and
will know the story from the oldest guy in the tribe. The

known paradise in the Caura Reserve. After that there is the
Canaima National Park, where the Tepuis rise from the Gran

hundreds of rivers and thousands of waterfalls give this
region its notable characteristic of being the Arthur Conan
Doyle´s Lost World. Still to come the most bizarre birds in
South America. The fifth segment starts in the Orinoco Delta
where we will be told about
the secrets of the rainforest by a Warao indian
guide. Going south will
meet the most powerful bird of prey on earth, the Harpy
eagle. Then going north we will stop at La Cueva del Guácharo,
The Oilbird Cave, the home of more that 10.000 oilbirds,
strange nocturnal dwellers inhabiting the cave. At last but
not least there is Los Roques, one of the few still virgin
spots in the Caribbean. We will dive on the Antares Dancer
liveaboard boat and also will enjoy the countless
entertainment possibilities in this paradise.
MASAGUARAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
/ MASAGUARAL, REFUGIO DE FAUNA (1x50)
Masaguaral
is a private cattle ranch in the middle of Venezuela, in the
high Llanos. Half a century ago its owner
took the decision to ban hunting and to share cattle
farming with the protection of
the fauna in the area and it has been maintained so
during decades. This makes Masaguaral a sort
of open
zoo where the wildlife flourishes without the threatening of
man.
Several stories are told in this documentary that guide us
to the understanding of the environment. The first one is
the breeding in captivity of the Orinoco Crocodile, hunted
almost to extinction in the basin for its skin. The whole 18
months period process is shown, from the egg collection to
the final release in the rivers of the basin.
Many different interesting birds and mammals are presented
in different environments,
showing unique behaviors in places such as the forest, the
savanna and the marshes. Feeding habits, reproduction
strategies, interaction among predators and prey and the
breeding phases of several species are presented in
outstanding photography with great field sounds recording.
The life around water copses shows the interaction between
birds and many mammals such as the giants rodents of the
neotropic and the felines in a daily struggle to survive.
The stories are all interrelated and dozens of species are
shown in shots never seen before. All this with an
interesting and attractive narration describing this unique
animals paradise.
ANIMAL
SURVIVAL / SUPERVIVENCIA
ANIMAL (1x50)
To
survive, animals must satisfy two essential requisites -
food and reproduction.
These processes occur in the environment in which
they have evolved and to which they have adapted. The
adaptation takes millions of years and those species that
are successful have developed both physical and behavioral
tools that allow them to survive harmoniously with their
environment and its inhabitants. Land, sea, air, fresh
water, ponds, marshes, forests, savannas, these are the main
environments where wild animals adapted through different
strategies to live and prosper on planet earth. Blending
with the surrounding, hideaways, withdrawals, dens, knifes
and spurs, carapaces and shells, flying, diving, venoms,
sounds, sense of smell, eyesight, songs and calls,
socialization, symbiosis, night dwellers, a kaleidoscope of
strategies that wild animals utilize to eat and not being
eaten. An outstanding collection of characteristics
shown through hundreds of shots and animals photographed in
the wild areas of the Orinoco-Amazon basin and the Caribbean
Sea during a decade. Amazing close-ups and outstanding
behaviors.
THE
ORINOCO DELTA ADVENTURE (1x50)
The
Orinoco Delta is the
third largest delta in the world behind the Amazon.
Five intrepid expeditionaries take the decision to
kayak the Orinoco Delta in a 200 miles journey along seven
days. Chris Patterson, a Venezuelan resident adventurer, his
brother Phil , a Scottish comedian and friend Brendan
, Alexandra, a Venezuelan photographer and “Piña”,
a warao guide, jump into the kayaks with minimum luggage,
food and support gear to chase rain, the burning sun, chill,
and adversity to test
themselves to their limits
in this never made journey to the atlantic ocean to
arrive to the Atlantic coast
in front of the island of Trinidad. They visit and
stay in warao houses and share their lifestyle. They enjoy
the exhilarating nature and wildlife, they eat
their food, listen at
their little know music, sleep in hammocks and
discover one of the most pristine and still innocent
Indian tribes in South America, the second largest in
Venezuela with 24.000 members.
DIVING
THE CARIBBEAN, THE BEST PLACES (1x50)
This documentary travels through
six of the best diving spots in the Caribbean. We start at Morrocoy
National Park, one of the most sought after places by scuba
divers in the north western Venezuela and the most important
mangrove system in the southern Caribbean. Then
we jump to the diving paradise of Bonaire, one of the three
Dutch Caribbean jewels in the southern Caribbean and the
home of the diving freedom. Los Roques is an archipelago of pristine coral islands
located 100 miles east of Bonaire along the chain of the
Lesser Antilles. The
abundance and diversity of species in its waters is hardly
surpassed by a handful of other Caribbean destinations.
Discover what the Caribbean was like 30 years ago.
Cozumel is the largest inhabited island of México
and legendary since Jacques Cousteau made a documentary in
1961. It is very notable for the underwater visibility and
the health of its reefs. A trip to Chichén-Itzá shows us
one of the best preserved Mayan ruins in
the whole empire.
The Cayman islands are renowed among divers
because of its vertical walls. One of the most thrilling
experiences in the world is
diving in Stingray City, an experience that will last
forever. A visit to the Turtle Farm and the Botanical
Gardens will give us another reason to visit Grand Cayman.
The
Bahamas is a well know destination for divers due to the
many chances to see sharks and other big animals. We will
aboard the Nekton and experience the diving freedon along
the course of the northern Bahamas. Dolphins, rays, turtles
and sharks are to be seen in this documentary, along with
thousands of fish in several wrecks.
