Description (Felis concolor)
This large solitary cat live in more places than any other wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere, extending from the Yukon in Canada to the southern Andes of South America. The puma is adaptable and generalist, so it is in the major biomes of the Americas. It is the second largest feline in the New World, after the jaguar, and the fourth largest in the world, after the tiger, lion and jaguar, although it is more related to smaller felines. As a hunter and ambush predator, the Puma pursues a wide variety of prey. Their main food is ungulates such as deer, particularly in the northern part of its range, as well as small game species such as insects and rodents. It prefers habitats with dense vegetation during the hours of stalking, but can live in open areas.
About the video
The video shows two animals that have sadly suffered human stupidity and the lust for power over nature. The first segment shows a young puma captured by killing his mother, as hunters often do, this occurred in the plains of Venezuela in the state of Guarico. The animal was bred in captivity with two dogs, with whom he played until he reached the size you see in the pictures. As often happens, even if a wild animal is bred in captivity always gets wild and attacked at a time the two dogs, killing one and seriously wounding another. The animal ate the entrails of animals that consumed on a fast food shop and finally died of a disease caused by this. In the second segment, we found a male captured under the same circumstances and maintained by an adventurer in the Orinoco Delta as an attraction for tourists in their camp. Although the confinement was more or less large and the animal was allowed certain freedoms of movement, their food was not the proper one and in its behavior and we can see the look and attitude of an animal in jail. I do not know what happened to him, because the shots are from 2001. I hope he broke the fence weakened by his urine and was able to escape. If not, then he suffered the same fate of the previous animal. In this place also had a young jaguar used for the same purposes. In a country where laws do not apply and if you try to apply it then corruption wins, unfortunately there is no solution for wildlife.
Nothing compares to the look and majestuosity of a wild animal. Lets keep them where do they belong.
